With its ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Architecture, the German Design Council runs an international architecture and design competition for visionary buildings and innovative products from the fields of interior design, facilities technology, and communications concepts for all fields in the worlds of architecture, construction, and real estate as well as manufacturing. The focus is on a holistic presentation and the interaction of the different trades in the context of architecture.
Award for dialogue through a harmonious trio of installation, home space exhibition, and a sample office
TOWER185 won over the international jury with its concept of nurturing an open debate on the use and future of office spaces in the context of the “New Normal” transformation with tenants, estate agents, and potential new tenants, and creating spaces, ideas, and perspectives in this regard. The team, revolving around the owner and asset manager Deka Immobilien, gave the topic centre stage in its communications, realizing a three-stage, analogue user journey in TOWER185 in order to encourage an active dialogue: firstly, a chair installation CHAIRS in der Lobby; secondly, the Home Space on the 45th floor as a temporary experience floor dedicated to the key topics the building itself addresses; and thirdly an inspiring sample space in which everything revolved around expanding sustainable, resource-saving office spaces that promote user well-being.
Courage and change
The WINNER award was granted in recognition not only of the high-grade and creatively designed setting but also for the courage to go down new paths in order to swap ideas and insights with tenants, estate agents, and prospective new tenants. The entire TOWER185 team is delighted to have been awarded this independent, international quality rating for contemporary developments and design solutions and is highly motivated by it. We all excitedly looking forward to engaging in in-depth conversations, running workshops, and bouncing new ideas around in the HOME SPACE or in the new sample office.
